Board Member

It wasn’t long after AK White moved to Middletown in 2018 that she felt that sweet, sweet pull of small-town life and wanted to serve the greater good of her new community. She joined the board of Middletown Main Street shortly thereafter, and has worked ever since to advocate for shopping small, supporting local, preserving historic charm, and loving where you live—in her opinion, being labelled a “townie” is a badge of honor. Nothing makes AK’s heart soar more than seeing new, diverse businesses throw open their doors downtown. Outside from her work with MMS, AK is a national- and regional-award-winning writer. After nearly two decades of work as a magazine print journalist, in 2021, she went in-house at St. Andrew’s School, a magical national treasure nestled in the heart of Middletown. She’s also an adjunct professor of writing at the University of Delaware. Besides spreading local love, other obsessions include bringing an independent bookstore to town, road biking, Phillies baseball, Wawa coffee, and all the books. She lives with her husband, Marty, and daughter, Zora.
